Så var det dags för samling av de 35 städer som ingår i CLIP (Cities for Local Integration Policies). Sundsvall är en av två städer från Sverige . Den andra är Malmö. Denna gång samlades städerna i Amsterdam.En stad där cirka halva befolkning har en invandrarbakrund. Vi diskuterade modulen – Interkulturell Dialog- och konstaterade med glädje och stolthet att Sundsvall nu blir nämnd för sina särskilda insatser på området. Flera rutor ägnades åt svenska lösningar när det gäller SFI och hemspråksundervisning. Men också egna lokala initiativ såsom fotbollplus och kurser i föreningskunskap. Många intryck kunde vi som alltid hämta in från andra städer med föjld av att vi blivit inspirerat t.ex. om sätt att bättre nå resultat i ”empowerment” baserad på lokal nivå. Vi fick tillfälle att göra ett fält besök till den stadsdel i Amsterdam som staten utsåg till mest segregerad. Där, i Bos et Loomer fick vi träffa Aunt Hennie kvinnan som styrde med järnhand de insatser man gjorde för att ungdomar där kunde få meninsfulla aktiviteter inom framförallt kampsporter. Där fick vi också träffa Said Bensellam med rötter i Marocco och som blev utsedd till årets Amsterdamer. Said leder projekt där man tar hand om utslängda rullstolar och får många ungdomar att kännas sig meningsfulla genom att reparera och återanvända i andra länder. Det förde mina tankar till våra egna eldsjälar som Berit Karlsson, Birgitta Starrin, Ingrid Andersson and Henrik Wikström för att nämna några få. Vi ser att vi har haft rätt när vi lyft den sociala ekonomin och sett potentialen i föreningslivets och kooperativets egna krafter.
Nu ser vi fram emot att delta i den fjärde modulen som handlar om ”Etnisk entrepenörskap”!

Once again the 35 cities of the CLIP (Cities for Local Integration Policies) network met, this time in Amsterdam. Sundsvall being one of two swedish cities…the other is Malmö.
Amsterdam has a population where roughly half has an immigrant background. The network discussed –Intercultural dialogue- and could gladly and proudly see how Sundsvall was mentioned in the report for it’s work on this area. Some citations referred to swedish solutions like Swedish for immigrants(SFI) and mother tongue education for children. But also local initiatives were mentioned such as Fotbollplus and courses in association management. Many impressions were gathered from the other cities which always gives us inspiration on tackling and improving our methods in order to achieve more “empowerment” at the local level. We had the opportunity to do a field visit to the residential area of Bos et Loomer an area designated as worse in Holland as far as segregation was concerned. There we met Aunt Hennie that firmly steered the activities done for youngsters specially in the fiels of martial sports like kickboxing. There we could also meet Said Bensellam with roots in Morocco that was elected Amsterdamer of the year. Said is in charge of a project where fathers run a center where among other things wheelchairs are collected, renovated and sent off to countries in need. This gives meaning to many young people keeping them off the streets. It lead my thoughts to our own firebrands such as Berit Karlsson, Birgitta Persson, Ingrid Andersson and Henrik Wikström just to mention a few. We can see from the municipality that we have been right when lifting the social economy and seen potential in associations and cooperatives own strength. Now we are looking foeward to participating in the fourth module that will be about Ethnic Entrepeneurship.
