Segregation på Pipeline

Igår träffades ett tiotal personer för att samtala om segregation och betydelsea av att alla som bor i Sundsvall kan spela en aktiv roll i stadens utveckling och dess framtid. Initiativet kom från KS ordföranden Anita Bdioui och platsen blev Pipeline.

Sådana temamöten i mindre grupperingar är mycket bra eftersom de bjuder till att alla kommer till tals och ger oss politiker viktiga input i vårt arbete.

Mötet mynnade ut i flera slutsatser som förstärker mycket av de kunskaper som redan finns om vad som är ska prioriteras för en lyckad integration men som tar väldigt lång tid att implementera. Stig Wallin grundare av 5i12 tryckte på den låga status som frågorna hittills har haft inte minst i politiken men jag tror att jag ser signaler nu på europeisk nivå om att medvetenheten kring frågorna ökar allteftersom beslutsfattare inser att vi har den befolkning vi har och den kommer inte att försvinna! Jag gladdes åt att bostadssituationen och arbetsmarknaden samt den sociala ekonomins betydelse för att miska sociala skillnader inte minst för barnen särskilt lyftes fram som viktigaste ingredienser för ett mindre segregerade samhälle. Slutligen framkom viktiga synpunkter kring utformande av ett ”integrations råd” med fokus på Sundsvallsbornas gemensamma framtid!

Segregation at the Pipeline Club


A group 12 people met yesterday to talk about segregation and the importance of creating conditions for all living in Sundsvall to play an cative role in the future of our city and community. The initiative come from our council leader Mrs Anita Bdioui and the chosen place was the Pipeline Club.

These theme meetings gathering smaller groups are good because they allow all to participate and thereby give us polititians important input!

The meeting came to several conclusions that strenghten our knowledge on our priority lists on what is important for a successful integration but where the needed processes are slow to implement. Stig Wallin founder of 5 to 12 mouvement pointed out the low status of these questions in the political arenas but I believe the awareness of these is increasing at European level as decision makers realize that we have the populations we have and they will not go away. I was particularly happy that the questions of housing and labour market were specially mentioned together with what social economy can do to reduce social injustice starting with children.These components were specially mentioned to achieve a less segregated society. Finally I would like to mention ideas put forward by participants on the subject of the formation of an “ integration council” focusing on our common future as Sundsvallians!
